Labor Day Weekend!!!

Yes, it's true, I madly-at-the-last-minute signed up for the Etsy at the Beach End of Summer Art Sale, and it is going to be super-fun.

I will be sharing a booth again with the fabulous Danielle, and along with many other Oregon etsy-ers will be selling our work at this humongous event. It's being held at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, 540 NE Hwy 101 (for any of you who feel like venturing out this weekend), from 10am to 6pm.

Personally, Steve, Indigo, and I will be hauling our butts out there early Saturday morning, beating the holiday rush to the beach. They're going to drop me off at the sale and go laze around the ocean all day. Then it's a night of camping at River's place (Stone River Studios), the amazing woman who has worked her ass off to coordinate this event. Sunday morning we're packing it up, and I am going to force Steve and Indie to spend another day at the beach before we head home. Poor babies :D

So, How'd it Go?

Yikes! Almost a week since the PDX Etsy sale and I haven't written about it yet! So, how'd it go? It was awesome!!

My super-sweet tent-mate was the fabulous Miss Purl (Danielle), who couldn't have been a better person to share with. She makes gorgeous jewelery! And she made the best etsy banners for our booth:
My very good friend, the Awesome Mary came and hung out with us for most of the day. It is always good to have lots of company! My pendants looked super cute in their new boxes, and people got a kick out of my moveable ACEO's. It was so much fun to hear their reactions. I sold some pendants (two even to a lady buying for Christmas! Talk about planning ahead!!), and a bunch of buttons and my friend John bought some ACEO's. Steve even managed to come by for a bit in the middle of his 8-hour-pinhole-photography class. Sweetie :)

The weather was PERFECT, I got to enjoy a fantastic breakfast burrito and the best peach ever from the Farmer's Market, and I had so much fun people watching and chatting with everyone. Yay etsy show!!!

My Studio Space this morning...

My poor little studio space is in what would be the dining area of my apartment, if I were a normal person. Hehehe....

Look at that mess!!! How the heck does she get any work done in that space?!? Well, I really don't get much work done there lately. I do it all on the dining room table, ironically, which is to the left of the easel by a foot or two. THAT, however, is going to change later this week as part of a massive overhaul of my apartment. See that little table buried underneath all of that stuff? I am going to build a slightly smaller table and tuck it underneath, so I can pull it out to work on. Yay table!!

I'm also selling my very nice, but way too big round dining room table and replacing it with a small square one. Anyone wanna trade? ;)

p.s. This post is by request from littleputbooks, who is doing a Studio Tuesday blog... if you have a studio to share, join in the fun!

Marketing, marketing, marketing!

What a busy night last night! Some people think late nights are for rest, but I am one of those freaks that stays up after my daughter is in bed to work, and still gets up at 6am to work before she's awake, too. Now, before anyone lectures me about time for myself, let me make it clear that these odd hours allow me the freedom to do things for myself during the day (between working), like go to the gym, network with etsy-ers (at our weekly teas), etc, without losing any money.

SO! Last night, miss LittlePutBooks (Ryan), put me in her blog! :) And what was I doing up until midnight??? Following her advice to make my own poster using etsy's poster tool, to hang up on community bulletin boards and such. Yay for advertising!!! Here's what mine looks like, with a big "LeaKarts.etsy.com" and some biz cards underneath:
