Sold!

I have been on Etsy's front page a couple of times before, and have gotten a lot of exposure from it, but never a sale. Until today!!
MissPurl did it again--put together one of the prettiest treasuries. She was sweet enough to include my newest item, a tiny little paper doll in a slide-top tin dollhouse. I just barely got a screenshot of the front page and woohoo! it sold! Very exiting :)

In other news, I want to remind everyone to vote on my poll (upper right-hand corner of my blog), then post a comment here, including your contact info, to be entered for a fun prize drawing! Contest ends June 4th, so hurry up!

Finally, if you get a chance, visit my new customer appreciation blog! So far I've featured 3 amazing artists, and there are sure to be a lot more as time goes on.

Portraits make great presents!

One of my very best friends, Katie, got married recently. Though she is a couple years younger than me, we went to high school together in Denver, and moved to Portland together over a decade ago. (!) As I sifted through her wedding registry, looking at all of the dinnerware and towels, I thought, these are all really nice, and I know she wants them, but she and I have been through way too much together for me to just buy her a cup or a toaster and feel good about it. So instead I dug out all of my photos and found a very cute (albeit dark--it was taken in a bar) pic of them, and painted their portrait. I just finished it this morning, and I am soooo exited to give it to them! It's not a complete surprise--I didn't tell her EXACTLY what it was, but I did have to email her (embarassingly) to make sure I got their eye color right. It is acrylic paint on paper--I'm going to mount it on wood before I give it to them. I hope they like it!

The Damn Cutest Thing I've Ever Made So Far

Yes, I am tooting my own horn! But this is one of my best ideas so far--a "paper doll" ACEO, with strategically placed slots around her body where you can put her wigs & dresses!

Recently I started making interactive ACEO's, with moving eyes, floating hair, and more. The ideas are coming so fast that I don't have time to keep up with them! (That is not a complaint, by the way). I am just so exited by my ideas, I can't wait to make more.

ACEO stands for "Artist Cards, Editions & Originals." ACEO's started out as ATC's (Artist Trading Cards), which were meant purely for exchange and not for profit. ACEO's are for-profit versions of ATC's. They can be made of any medium, the only real rule is that they have to be 2.5" x 3.5"--the standard size of baseball and other trading cards. They are so fun to make!
